Our girls LOVE Playsilks. They can most often be found as a cape to signify a queen, a sling for a “broken arm” when playing doctor, a swaddle for a baby doll, tied around wrists and ankles as dance props. My favorite is to use it to get smiles out of my baby by laying her down and fanning it up and down over the top of her. She gets SO excited! :) We just found Sarah’s Silks and I’m so excited that my mother is gifting one to our almost 4 year old for her birthday. Having been used by our 9 girls, our other Playsilks are pretty ragged having been loved and used almost daily!

I love that using them for pretend play nature scenes is a Douglas Adams approved #42. One example, we checked out The Great Penguin Rescue from the library, then made a beach scene with the sand and water colored scarves, made man-made burrows out of magna tiles, and put out old rectangular mother of pearl beads as anchovies and sardines for the penguins to hunt. We love our Sarah’s Silks and recommended the balloon covers to our Early Intervention therapists <3

We use them at home as mermaid hair, capes, & to build our forts. I also love to use them to wrap childrens gifts, less waste & more fun!

My son love to play peekaboo with them!

My sons favorite is simply to use them to sooth himself – so soft and comforting.

Today we used one large silk and two small ones to make dragon wings! Later we used another silk as horse reins. Yesterday we used our orange and gold silks as flames coming out of a rocket ship we made from a cardboard box. The baby loves to chew on them or play peekaboo. So many possibilities!

I love that silks can be used for so many different plays.
My favorite is parachute play. My baby sits or lays down and I let the silk float up and down over him, or gently wave it above him.
Even better if the sun comes through the silk.
Amanda on
We like to use play silks in light play, letting the sun shine through them or using them to tint the light from our light box.

My boys like draping their rainbow scarves over themselves and being rainbow ghosts! We also enjoy using the brown and forest scarves as a play surface for construction and farm equipment toys – gives an element of realism.

My girls love making tents for their dolls. These silks are the perfect toy!

My kids use our playsilks for so many things! Capes, wings, headdresses, flag, forts, etc. But one of their favorite things right now is landscapes for plushies. The blue ones become rivers, lakes, and waterfalls. The red becomes lava and fire. Green is any kind of plant. Yellow might become sand… The possibilities are endless.

We’ve gifted 3 now. We package with wooden rings and hoops and ribbon. So much open ended play! My youngest will get hers in 2 weeks for her birthday!
