How to Turn Mini-Playsilks into Magical Bunnies
We know how much kids love to let their imaginations run wild when they’re wearing playsilks but they can also form silks into fun, little critters.
It’s super-easy to make little bunnies appear with mini playsilks.
Here’s a three-step guide to make bunnies magically appear, just in time for Easter.
Here’s what you’ll need to get started:
-
a 21 inch square mini playsilk (if you use a 35 inch playsilk, start by folding it in squares)
- a ball of cotton or tissue
Bunnies make a great gifts to tuck inside Easter baskets (especially if you make three or four in different pastel colors).
You can also enlist the help of your children—young and old— and fill the center with little gifts (like yummy jelly beans or other special treats) to give to friends.
The best part is that once your child is done hopping the bunny around the house they can unknot their imagination and let the fun continue using the silk in a number of ways such as a veil or skirt, a clubhouse ceiling or an imaginary river that needs to be crossed.
Older children like to get in on the action, too, it’s like origami with silk.
This is one of the most simple and impressive easter decorations I’ve seen, apart from painting hard boiled eggs. But kids love bunnies and chocolate a whole lot more than eggs!

I bought a playsilk months ago, but haven’t really known what to do with it or how to play with it, so I came today looking for ideas. I skepitaclly tied our playsilk using this tutorial, and asked my kids if they knew what it was, thinking they would have no idea. To my surprise, their eyes lit up and exclaimed, “it’s a bunny!”. They love it and I would love to see more tutorials and ideas on how to use our playsilk!
