Rainbow Fairies
Imagine looking up and seeing a sky full of fairies hovering above you. These are the things that spark a child's imagination. It's so easy to make your very own fairy mobile. This project is wonderful to do with children ages 4 -10, to make Christmas tree ornaments, or to make as a gift for a friend who's expecting a baby.
You will need:
12 silk pieces, or you may choose to buy our Playsilk Scrap Bags
Cotton thread (you may choose any color)
A fine needle
Scissors
A Playsilk to hang your mobile
White stuffing wool
A piece of driftwood, stick if you’re making a mobile.
Steps
First, cut 6 lengths of thread, 12" each.
Next, take a little bit of stuffing and form it into a tight ball so it's about the size of a marble.
Put the ball into the center of your first silk square.
Bring the silk around the head and hold it at the neck, wrap the thread around twice and tie a knot.
Next, thread your needle with the two tails of thread. Put the needle in at the neck and come out right in the middle of the top of the head.
Cut off your short tail level with the top of the head - careful not to snip your silk.
Repeat the above steps to create the remaining 11 fairies.
Hang your fairies on your Christmas Tree.
Or hang your fairies on a stick or branch
Tie the fairies along it. Balancing them out so they hang evenly.
Be sure you give them enough room to fly as you sing:
"Rainbow fairies flying free,
Rainbow fairies that we see,
Come and play with me today,
How you play your special way!"
xoxo,
Sarah
Thanks for the lovely tutorial. My little one is moving from her bassinette to a cot in the next few weeks and this would be so sweet to make.

I love this simple tutorial. I am pinning this to Pinterest with a link to your blog to help spread more fairies in the world.
