"You were once a yellow pumpkin
sitting on a sturdy vine,
Now you are a Jack-o'-lantern,
let your little light shine."
Here at Sarah's Silks we love celebrating festivals! Halloween is a fun one that can be spent doing activities all month that are out in nature and nurturing for young children.
Wonderful ideas for a green, earth-friendly Halloween include pumpkin patch visits, followed by pumpkin carving and baking and eating pumpkin treats. Long walks gathering fall leaves and acorns. Baking bread, making candles, sitting by the fire, and of course, dressing up!
Playsilks are one of the best, most creative tools for making your own costume. We've seen children use them to become ghosts, witches, genies, flying machines, almost anything you can imagine can be created (with a bit of added magic) with a special colored Playsilk.
Adding Face Paint makes even more characters possible - think tiger stripes on cheeks paired with a tiger Playsilk.
Trick-or-treat baskets are another great earth-friendly way to stay away from plastics. Baskets are beautiful and will be used over and over in many ways.

I have 6 kiddos who want to dress up this year. My oldest two have grown out of it ;) my youngest wants to be a pumpkin, but he also keeps changing his mind. The others are still working on their ideas. My 5 year old saw the bat costume on your website so that might be an option for him 😆 he usually wants to be a dinosaur. My 8 year old is talking about being the grim reaper. We’ll figure it all out soon!

My daughter will be dressing up as a black cat this Halloween. We’ve made ears, paws, and a tutu with tail- She loves wearing it now and “meowing” around the house.

My girls will be a duckling, Dorothy with a dog and basket, and Moana.

This year our two kiddos are going to be skeletons; bones cut out of felt applied to black PJ’s. We always DIY for Halloween. We have many Sarah’s Silks items-last year my son was a bat and my daughter was a unicorn and we used your costume items and silks. :)

After much consideration and daily ideas we’ve shared with each other, my little one has decided on dressing up as a mushroom fairy! Her inspiration came from the ones on her tooth fairy pillows that she recently got to use for her first lost tooth! With a little diy creativity and some help from her collection of silks and silk accessories she has, I’m sure we’ll put something beautiful together!

My daughter always wants to be an erupting volcano. So I made her costume like this and she is so much happy. But it was difficultto comply imagination of volcano from this little head.

My son’s original Halloween choice was a ghost (nothing better than just plopping a silk over head and chasing each other!) but has since changed his mind to a spider as he loves the song “Spider in the Bath”.

My 5 year old has decided to be a Valkyrie, a battle Valkyrie specifically, and 3 year old wants to be a red superhero. Powers? Red. Name? Irrelevant. Backstory? Red.
